Mintel Industry Report

Each year the SSA commissions Mintel to undertake a report that reviews and summarises the state of the self storage industry in the UK.  The report is based on information supplied by members of the SSA UK and is available to both members and non members.

Some of the report's key findings include:

• 2009 saw the number of self storage facilities in the UK increase by more than 4%
• The UK industry now comprises of 800 facilities, generates revenues of £345m and employment for 2,800 people
• More than 34% of news business now comes via the internet
• 15% of operator sales now come from non storage income streams

A cautiously optimistic outlook for the industry in 2010
